CLINICS SPRING 2012 GOALKEEPing CLINIC (6 – 2 Hour Sessions) Intro to / Beginner Goalkeeping: Designed for the player
that has never received formal goalkeeper training and has an interest in
becoming a goalkeeper. Developing proper technique for fundamental
goalkeeping skills is crucial in becoming a goalkeeper. This program is
designed to build a goalkeeper’s foundation and introduce proper footwork,
handling and diving. (Boys &
Girls, Ages 7-10) Intermediate Goalkeeping: These sessions are focused on building
fundamental consistency and increasing a goalkeeper’s range. Goalkeepers are
pushed to increase their speed of thought, handling ability and sharpen their
decision-making. In this program goalkeepers will learn new techniques as
well as be expected to demonstrate fundamental skills. (Boys & Girls,
Ages 11-13)
Advanced Goalkeeping: This program is designed to grow skill set
consistency and push experienced goalkeepers to a higher stage of
development. Goalkeepers will be introduced to methodologies and tactical
theories that will help them understand their role on the field. In addition,
goalkeepers will be expected to understand and perform a variety of technical
skills, including several handling positions, different dives and
distribution. (Boys & Girls, Ages 14-16)
College Prep Goalkeeping: This program is designed
for college bound players or players already in college looking to prepare
themselves for the upcoming season. It is for boys’ and girls’ ages,
16-21 only. The intense program will focus on increasing agility,
flexibility, stamina, footwork, reflexes and decision-making while improving
their leadership skills. Therefore, if you are not yet in college, it will
give you a little taste of what to expect from playing in college and if you
are already in college, it will get you fit for your upcoming season! The
program is all about goalkeeper training and fitness. Every exercise that you
will do will be in front of the goal and the focus will be on being
technically and mentally sharp. You will be placed in different simulated
situations and see how well you perform and make decisions. Having the
element of fitness testing is another way that players will be prepared for
college. Players will take two different fitness tests throughout the week
and an emphasis will be getting them match fit and sharp. Every player will
be treated like a "mini-pro" and Coach Hare will work to build
personal "ONE on ONE" relationships with all players to help the
players learn and become confident in their skills and personality.
